From Inclusive Research to Equitable Healthcare

Based in Cádiz, INiBICA is a leading research and innovation institute dedicated to advancing biomedical sciences and promoting health equity. With a multidisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians, state-of-the-art facilities, and a commitment to scientific excellence and social responsibility, INiBICA focuses on translating evidence-based research into practical interventions in areas such as sexual and reproductive health, chronic disease, and community wellbeing.

Advancing health equity across Europe

INiBICA joined the HARMONY project to tackle one of Europe’s most pressing challenges: ensuring equitable access to healthcare for migrants and refugees. Spanning six European countries, the project seeks to remove structural, informational, and cultural barriers that prevent vulnerable populations from receiving the care they need.

Through strategic support from Timbi, INiBICA aligned its biomedical research expertise with EU research and innovation priorities, defining its role within the project, shaping the impact narrative, and contributing to the preparation of the funding proposal. This collaboration enabled INiBICA to extend its influence from regional biomedical research to European-level initiatives promoting health equity.

Empowering healthcare through research and collaboration

Within HARMONY, INiBICA contributes to the development of digital training platforms, simulation-based learning modules, and train-the-trainer programs designed to equip healthcare professionals, social workers, and cultural mediators with the skills to provide culturally sensitive, inclusive care. The institute fosters cooperation across diverse European health systems and migrant communities, strengthening cross-border understanding and supporting sustainable integration.

Key outcomes of INiBICA’s engagement:
  • Contributed scientific expertise to proposal design and EU funding strategy

  • Strengthened INiBICA’s role as a European research and knowledge partner

  • Advanced inclusive healthcare research and education across six European pilot sites
